My idea for 100000eurohomepage banners elaborated
First money making product?
Placing banners on your weblog is an obvious potential profit maker. The hard part would be selling your banners to customers especially if you are a start-up. In fact setting a price and a period for banner placement isn’t easy either. By selling 10 banners for 1000 €/month our quest will end in 10 months or better yet selling 10 banners for 10000 € 
Back on earth
Meanwhile back on earth I had an idea about placing banners on 100000eurohomepage and setting the price(s). My idea is inspired by a couple of things:
- Technology adoption life cycle
- Eyetracking
- onemilliondollarhomepage and all the rip offs
- e-bay.com

People expect a bunch of graphics/banners if they go to a $$$$$$$$$hompage URL
here you can sell everything including banners. Drawback however is the fee you need to pay. So we can use this selling channel only after we make some kind of revenue. (Remember on of our rules: zero budget). But I did use ebay to check for a banner period.
Coming up with a money maker formula
Banner placements
I started to sketch some banner placements on paper and considering this is a weblog the result is:
Two columns of banners on the left and right side of our weblog. Each banner is 120 width x 60 height.
30 on each side makes a total of 60. Of the 60 banners 16 banners are above the line (banners which are visible without you scrolling down 1024×768)
Price
So the next thing to do is to set a price. Which depends on the placement and time period for a banner. Based on eyetracking
I have divided the banners in 8 groups.
The price range from low to high would be:
- L14 R4
- R3
- L3
- R2
- L2
- R1
- L1
Now I wanted to take the adoptation and period into account. Which means customers who buy now pay a lower banner price then in the future. Furthermore these early adopters would buy a banner for a time period of two months instead of the standard 1 month.
So why haven’t you talk about web stats you might wonder?
Well to be honest these are very poor at the moment. But I am submitting my rss-feed every day to different directories and with the new posts the search engine wil come crawling. Furthemore if you would link us it would be awesome for our web stats.
But the webstats have there impact on our bannerprice settings. When the webstats go up the bannerprice goes up accordingly
